About Riley Platt

Riley Platt has long been passionate about using the law to help protect others from unfair and unjust treatment. As a paralegal for Chaloupka Law LLC, Riley works closely with clients through the entire legal process, including intake, investigations, depositions, hearings and trials, and ultimately resolution. He manages caseloads involving civil rights, personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, and criminal felony work.

Riley studied pre-law at Chadron State College, earning a bachelor degree in legal studies. After graduation, Riley headed to Colorado with a plan to take a little time off and work as a whitewater rafting guide. One summer turned into seven seasons, and for a time, the self-proclaimed ski bum was more likely to pick up a snowboard than assist a lawyer in getting ready for trial.

But that drastically changed during a visit to his hometown in rural Scotts Bluff County. Riley and his parents happened to run into an attorney he had known in earlier years when he worked as an intern and clerk for the Scotts Bluff County District Court judges. The attorney suggested he return to the area and get back into law. The next day, Maren Lynn Chaloupka called and offered him a job. He thought it over, accepted, and moved back to Nebraska. The two have been working together ever since.

Riley enjoys talking with clients, listening to their stories and helping them navigate the often uncertain road ahead of them as best he can. Riley lives in Gering with his partner, Amber, and their two young daughters. One day, he plans to teach the girls to ski. Email Riley at rp@chaloupkalaw.net.
